First offered in summer of 2002, Camp Creativity is an alternative to the many summer sports programs in our area. In 2009, 175 youth in grades K-5 from Center Moriches, East Moriches, Manorville and Mastic/Shirley enjoyed a week of arts and crafts, games, snacks and informal recreation activities. During July, the camp offers weekly morning and afternoon sessions in rooms provided at no charge by Center Moriches School District.

Paid staff consists of camp director Nancy Harkin, an art director, two adult aides and several energetic high school students. Campers have the opportunity to create beaded jewelry, mosaic mirrors, beach scene collages and other unique art projects, as well as experience fun recreation activities such as four square, playground time, board games and reading.

All sessions have a maximum enrollment of 25, and children will be grouped age appropriately. Registration is first come, first served, and students are limited to only one session until registration closes on July 2. Cost is $40 per session thanks to a grant from Brookhaven Youth Bureau.
