Theater Arts Camp

In the summer of 2005, in response to requests from parents, Moriches Community Center initiated an informal theater camp where about 60 youth in grades 1-9 prepared for and presented "Grease: A Revue". The camp was expanded in summer 2006 to a four week camp, facilitated by Kelly Parlato, for youth wishing to explore theater arts as a possible future vocation.

Campers are exposed to the many opportunities in the theater arts, and they experience authentic, hands on learning in areas of set design and construction, costuming, acting, singing, choreography and show promotion. Camp ends with a theatrical performance for family, friends and community members, which for summer 2010 was an abridged version of "Annie."

We are grateful to Center Moriches School Districty for allowing use of the HS auditorium at no charge, and to Suffolk County Legislator Kate Browning for her partial sponsorship grant of this program.

2010 Theater Arts Camp

2011 Theater Arts Camp will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-12pm starting Tuesday, August 3rd through Thursday August 25th at Center Moriches High School. Cost is $75 per camper ($65 for additional siblings), and youth in grades 1-10 are eligible. To register, please use the form below, or for more information email info@morichescommunitycenter.org.
